Consortium musicum, z.s.
Chamber Orchestra of the Music Culture Department of the Faculty of Education, University of West Bohemia in Pilsen.
The orchestra is composed particularly of students and graduates of the Music Culture Department; however, many musicians come from other faculties of the University of West Bohemia. The string orchestra is focused primarily on the interpretation of 18th century compositions, but they play contemporary music as well. Playing under the baton of Vít Aschenbrenner, they cooperate with other ensembles, particularly with the Girls Academic Choir and the Collegium for Sacred Music of Klatovy. As for their concerts, the performance of Stabat Mater by Johann Baptist Wanhal and Missa pastoralis by Jan Hanuš should be highlighted. In recent years, the orchestra, together with the Collegium for Sacred Music, have performed the world premiere of the oratorio Dies sanctificatus by Pavel Samiec and the second run of the oratorio Sermo Jesum inter et Magdalenam by František Xaver Brixi.
